DEI Policy

DEI POLICY

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Policy

Darrin Sankey Memorial Foundation

At the Darrin Sankey Memorial Foundation, we are committed to fostering an environment where diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are not just values but core principles that guide our mission, programs, and interactions. This policy reflects our dedication to creating an equitable and inclusive community that honors and respects the unique experiences, perspectives, and contributions of all individuals.

Our Commitment

  1. Diversity We celebrate and embrace the diversity of race, ethnicity, gender, age, ability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, religion, and other identities. We recognize that diverse perspectives strengthen our ability to fulfill our mission and positively impact our community.

  2. Equity We strive to identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented the full participation of underrepresented groups. By addressing systemic inequities and promoting fairness, we aim to create opportunities for all individuals to thrive.

  3. Inclusion We are committed to cultivating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute. We encourage open dialogue, active listening, and a collaborative spirit that ensures all voices are heard.

Principles in Action

  • Leadership and Governance: Our leadership and board members, composed of friends and family, bring a mix of male and female perspectives to the foundation. While we recognize the current limitations in our leadership’s diversity, we remain committed to exploring ways to broaden representation over time.

  • Programs and Services: We design and deliver programs and initiatives that are inclusive, culturally responsive, and accessible to all members of our community. We actively seek input from underrepresented and marginalized groups to ensure their needs are met.

  • Volunteers: Our volunteer teams are diverse and reflect the communities we serve. We implement equitable recruitment and retention practices and provide ongoing training and education on DEI topics to ensure our volunteers understand and uphold our values.

  • Community Engagement: We partner with organizations, individuals, and communities that share our commitment to DEI. By fostering collaborative relationships, we amplify the voices of those who are often unheard and work together to create lasting change.

  • Accountability and Transparency: We will regularly evaluate our DEI efforts through measurable goals and objectives. Annual reports will be shared with our stakeholders, highlighting our progress and identifying areas for improvement.

Zero Tolerance for Discrimination

The Darrin Sankey Memorial Foundation maintains a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, harassment, or exclusionary behavior in any form. We are committed to addressing incidents promptly and fostering a safe environment for all.

Your Role

We invite everyone—from our volunteers to our community partners and donors—to join us in upholding this DEI policy. Together, we can create a foundation that reflects the values of equity, inclusivity, and respect.
